Wisconsin wildlife authorities say five hunters were wounded and one died in shooting incidents during the first two days of the deer hunt.
Department of Natural Resources safety administrator Tim Lawhern says one of the victims was hunting illegally in Washburn County when he shot himself in the foot inside a vehicle. Lawhern says another victim was a 13-year-old boy in Shawano County who also shot himself in the foot when he pulled his shotgun up to aim at a deer.
The nine-day hunt opened Saturday and attracted some 630,000 hunters.
The hunter killed was a 48-year-old Appleton man. Lawhern says the victim was participating in a deer drive in Outagamie County on Sunday morning when he was shot in the chest by an unknown member of his hunting party.
