LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- The Delta Queen, American Queen and Mississippi Queen steamboats won't be cruising the Mississippi River and stopping at La Crosse in 2009, at least under the same ownership.
Seattle-based Majestic America Line, which owns those boats and two others, is for sale. The firm notified the La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau this week it won't be operating cruises next year.
Clarissa Bates is the bureau's director of development. She said Majestic usually has the schedule for the next season in by now, and the company is simply saying it's not planning on operating the cruises if there isn't a buyer.
