Flags large and small flew today to honor those lost five years ago.
>
At UW-Eau Claire, the College Republicans put up almost 3,000 American flags at 5:30 this morning to remind people walking by of the lives lost in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. The project also celebrates the thousands of people who helped rescue survivors of the attacks and the Americans serving in the military.
>
Irene Mueller of the College Republicans says "it's a memory to them, you know, just everyday people losing their lives over something that I don't see necessary."
>
Mueller also says she hopes students think of the innocent people killed that day. The flags will remain up until 8:00 p.m. tonight.
