UW-Stout is closer to starting major work on its student center.
On Wednesday, the State Building Commission approved the $18 million project. It will now be included in Governor Doyle’s 2009-2001 capital budget, which will be considered this year by the legislature.
UW-Stout says the university won't be using any taxpayer money. The project will be paid for using segregated fees from the university. The project will include upgrading the building's infrastructure, renovating food service venues, and creating a campus community gathering space
Construction is scheduled to start in May of next year, and the project is planned to be completed by September of 2011.
