The City of Chippewa Falls is getting more federal funds to move it’s $3,000,000 waterfront redevelopment project forward.
Democratic Congressman Dave Obey was in Chippewa Falls on Thursday. He secured the funds to make an almost $2,000,000 loan to the city.
The waterfront project is expected to create 50 construction related jobs.
The area will be developed as a park and empty properties will be replaced with new housing and loft buildings. The city is also putting in a new water treatment plant.
Improvements will also be made to Bridge Street with funds from Governor Doyle.
Obey says he's glad to show how federal resources are helping with tight budgets, so ratepayers are not adversely impacted by these improvement projects.
