A new prediction shows swine flu could affect up to half the U.S. population this fall and winter.
Scientists advising the President say within that plausible scenario, doctors' offices and hospitals would be filled to capacity. It also shows that up to 90,000 people could die from the virus. That's more than double the normal flu season toll. Researchers also say deaths would be concentrated among children and young adults.
The virus has claimed the lives of more than 500 Americans so far.
