As we're bundling up for what promises to be the most bitter cold snap of the winter season, the state has issued a warning for us.

The State Department of Health and Family Services is issuing a public health advisory to remind people of the dangers of severe cold. According to Health Officer Sheri Johnson, common outdoor activities can become life-threatening in no time in the kind of weather moving into the state.

She says exposed ears can freeze within 30 seconds with a wind chill of 30 degrees below zero.
