No More Reserve Officers in Eau Claire
This fall the Eau Claire reserve officer program will be terminated.

Some police departments in the state utilize reserve officers. Eau Claire does, but this fall that service will end.
>
Chief Jerry Matysik says Eau Claire is one of just a few cities that has state certified, volunteer reserve officers. But after 53 years, the partnership will end in August.
>
Matysik says because the officers are only required to work eight hours a month, they aren't getting enough training.
>
"The problem is with all the different scenarios that we could possibly feel comfortable with, they all require additional training and investment that we can't demand and the reserve officers can't possibly provide given the circumstances,” Matysik said.
>
One of the city's reserve officers, Brian Stabenow, says he disagrees with the chief about the amount of training they get. He thinks the decision will hurt the city especially at community events like festivals and parades.
