A new website is helping college students find off-campus housing and it was started by three Wisconsin students.
A UW-Stout student, a UW-Eau Claire student and another man started the website called homejotter.com. They started it right here in Eau Claire and now it's spread nationwide. It's a web site where real estate companies can list the houses they have available for students.
The creators say it's used all over Wisconsin and by over 500 colleges nationwide. They say they meet with a local realtor often to get pointers on how to make the website most beneficial.
It's a free website for both students and real estate companies at this point. One of the creators, Brett Stapper, says they started the site to help out students like themselves, "The main purpose is to provide college students with a fast and easy approach to find an off-campus place to live.”
Stapper says they officially launched the website this July and he says so far the website averages 500 hits a day.
