The 20-year-old Bloomer man who was burned during what investigators call a botched movie reenactment is speaking out.

He's in regions hospital in St. Paul, but Jared Anderson wanted to tell us his side of the story.

Anderson says he's still in a lot of pain. But, says the criminal complaint has it wrong and he did not want to light his genitals on fire. He did, however, admit to unzipping his pants to singe a hair.

After a night of drinking the fun fizzled fast for Anderson.

"I have 3rd degree burns on my private area."

Anderson says the events early Sunday morning are a little blurry because of booze.

"I recall him spraying me, I don't remember him trying to light it. I know he sprayed me twice"

The criminal complaint is much clearer. It says the stunt, which happened inside this Eau Claire home was a copycat situation after the party-goers watched the movie "Jackass."

It quotes Anderson's friends as saying he was intoxicated and told everyone he wanted to light his genitals on fire. Anderson says that's not true.

"I never gave anyone permission to light my b***s (genitals) on fire. He was spraying me and I was on my way to the shower and he was making me jump and I went up in flames. Yeah, he was trying to harm me."

Now, as Anderson waits for skin grafts, 43-year-old Randell Peterson awaits his day in court. Regardless of if he was out to hurt Anderson or just helping him copy a stunt, an Eau Claire County Assistant D.A. says it's against the law to help anyone harm themselves.

Randy Peterson is still in jail. He's charged with battery and first degree reckless endangerment.

We talked to one of Peterson's roommates who wasn't at the party that night. He says the four witnesses listed in the criminal complain visited Anderson in St. Paul Thursday.
