The City of Bloomer is putting off filling one of two vacant police officer positions.

In a special meeting this morning, City Council Members decided to wait until they name an acting chief to hire one officer.

Right now, Mayor Randy Summerfield is acting as chief while Chief Mike Bungartz is on leave. Council Member Richard Hoffman tells NewsCenter 13 that the council is still interviewing potential candidates for the acting chief position. He says the city could name a new acting chief as soon as next week.
