Deer Hides to Help the Veterans

The Elks Lodge in Wausau has collected at least 250 deer hides for the benefit of veterans across the state.

Volunteers will take the hides to Hartford, where the hides will be processed into crafts and clothes. The group will then distribute the products to veterans' hospitals across the state.

Group spokesman, Dick Kohlbeck says the hides can be turned into vests, chaps or fingerless gloves.

The gifts will be delivered to hospitals in the next couple of months.
