After recent success, the state is launching a much bigger waste recycling effort starting next year.
Beginning in January, all construction and demolition debris from state projects costing more than $5 million dollars will have to be recycled instead of put in landfills.
A successful two year pilot program spurred the expansion. That program worked on developing methods, standards and staff training to increase recycling.
A study found that 30 percent of what goes into landfills comes from construction and demolition debris.
