State Assembly Approves New Medical Bill

The State Assembly has approved a bill that would let medical professionals refuse to do certain procedures on moral or ethical standards.

The professionals would not be disciplined for these refusals under the new bill. Gov. Doyle still needs to sign the bill.

The procedures that can be refused involve abortion, sterilization, human embryos, and fetal tissue or organs. Opponents of the bill say it would take away needed health care from women.
