A 77-year-old Viroqua man and his two stepsons have been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a now 20-year-old woman over ten years.
William Kempf appeared yesterday in Vernon County Circuit Court on three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of substantial battery. Twenty-five-year-old Johnny Byler was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child. And 24-year-old Eli Byler was charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child and four counts of second-degree sexual assault by use of force.
Kempf's 49-year-old wife, Sally, also appeared on two misdemeanor counts of failure to aid a victim or report a crime. Judge Michael Rosborough scheduled a preliminary hearing April 13th for the men and a status conference April 26 for Kempf's wife.
The charges were brought after the young woman alleged she had been repeatedly assaulted between ages of 7 and 17.
