The state's first plant opened just 5 years ago. The magazine, Ethanol Producer, reports that Wisconsin now has the 7th largest capacity for ethanol production in the U.S. That's up from 8th last year.

Currently, 221 million gallons are produced, statewide, with the capacity to produce an additional 272 million when the facilities under construction are finished and functional. Iowa leads the nation in ethanol production capacity.
