Governor Doyle declares Snowplow Driver Appreciation Day
It's so people will take time to reflect on everything snowplow drivers do to keep roads clear in Wisconsin.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Jim Doyle wants to officially say "thank you" to snowplow drivers.

As winter closes in, the governor has declared Tuesday as Snowplow Driver Appreciation Day. The proclamation urges everyone to take time to reflect on everything snowplow drivers do to keep the state's roads open.

The state Transportation Department says the winter of 2008-2009 saw 408 crashes involving snowplows. The agency says people need to remember state law requires they stay at least 200 feet behind snowplows.
