When we asked Dean Morse, 46, of Augusta, whether the accusations against him are true, he said he wouldn't say anything without a lawyer.

"My...wife was sick and I was on my way to the hospital," Morse said.
"I (almost) lost her because of that."

A criminal complaint shows officers clocked a car going 90 miles-an-hour a couple miles east of Altoona on October 14, and that the same car hit 105 miles-an-hour when it got closer to Altoona.

"No I didn't (try to call an ambulance) because she wasn't in pain on the way there....only to halfway there," Morse said. "She's doctoring (now) and she's having a lot of problems with her heart."

The complaint says investigators caught up with Morse outside Sacred Heart Hospital when he told them his wife was dying and that he thought it was OK to break traffic laws when it was in an emergency.

"The next morning she was rushed to the hospital again, she (almost) passed out twice."

Investigators go on to say that they put out spike strips in the road to deflate Morse's tires, but that his car went around them.

Morse claims he didn't see the spikes in the road, and when we told him that investigators say they were out there, he told us "just leave me alone and get out of here."

Morse is now free on a signature bond. He's scheduled to be back in court for a pre-trial conference next month. If convicted on a charge of attempting to flee an officer, Morse could face three-and-a-half years in prison.
