The Jackson County Courthouse and law enforcement center was evacuated Friday morning because of what people thought was a gas leak.
A strong odor of natural gas was reported just after 10 a.m., but the Black River Falls fire chief says there wasn't a gas leak.
Rather, he says maintenance workers were power washing horse and cow manure off some entrance rugs outside the courthouse air intake.
The chief says oil from the motor was drawn into the building and smelled a lot like natural gas. The chief says everyone was back inside within 20 minutes.
