I agree he may not have acted responsibly and may not have made good choices, but it still does not qualify as homicide. How do you know what his lifestyle was or is, unless you know him personally. It seems he has already been convicted in the eyes of the community who have elected themselves judge and jury. I didn't say Mr. Rasmus was to blame, either - I think it was a very unfortunate set of circumstances and there is probably blame to be shared on both sides. I just don't understand what good will come of locking him up. I think it is normal in the grieving process to want some restitution, but locking up a young man isn't going to "make up for" the pain and loss the community feels. It also seems to be a state's attorney attempting to make a name for himself. I just think Mr. Kozlowski isn't getting a very fair shot when everyone is salivating to see him "burned at the stake".

Everyone is so quick to judge Mr. Kozlowski. I have known him for many years and can tell you he took his job very seriously. I don't know what happened that night but how is jack knifing a semi considered murder. Mr Rasmus was not wearing his mandatory glasses and plowed into the truck. It is a shame that lives were lost but to ruin a young mans life over an accident is ridiculous. If Mr Rasmus was paying more attention than he wouldve been able to stop in time and wed never have heard anything about it. To try to seek revenge on this young man to try to heal the pain of this community is unfair. I hope the jury sees that this is nothing more than revenhe and send Mike home to his friends wating back homw. We love you Mike.

I think you are mssing the point that this young man who is so nicely cleaned up now in a suit and all, elected not to be a responsible person, but chose a life style that caused him to drive inappropriately. My opinion is he is still not acting as a responsible person, I know a lot of truck drivers, every body knows you don't pull a semi off the road to "urinate" when you go past how many exits where it would be safer. No one is going to be charged with murder when you do things the legal way, he isn't the first or probably the last to be held to a standard of responsibility when someone gets behind the wheel of a vehicle and acts irresponsibily. Pushing the blame on a tried and true bus driver, is another example. Paul Rasmus is not to blame, he was a remarkable person and contributed much to the community. This young man cared only about himself and being a party man. Revenge is not the issue, responsibility for actions that caused innocent lives to be lost is.

This is a tragic story, for sure. My heart goes out to all the people who have so acutely felt the loss from this accident. However, I am also disheartened to hear the need for revenge from this community. This young man may have made some questionable choices, but to call it homicide? The truck driver did not hit the bus, the bus hit him. It was a terrible, tragic accident. I don't think it will help anyone to have this young man locked up in prison.

I just pray he does not get off easy. The victims and community deserve better.

I Think this is very scary to think that how this turns out could determan if you have to slam on the brakes in your car and the car behind you hits you and someone in that car gets killed for what ever reason you could be tried for murder.
