A former postal employee was sentenced Tuesday to one year probation for destroying mail.

The Department of Justice says 45-year-old Veronica Minor of Boyceville pleaded guilty to the charge. It says Minor was an employee of the US Postal Service in Baldwin.

The department says she opened mail and took items from it, including a gift card she used at Wal-Mart.
