An 8 a.m. crash on Interstate 94 in Dunn County is always a guaranteed commuter nightmare.
On Monday, a State Trooper found out first-hand that a horrible looking crash could have been a lot worse after her cruiser was struck by another car.
Trooper Shari Kalk and 21-year-old Courtney Jones of Racine were both hospitalized from the crash. Kalk had pulled over to attend to a disabled car on the shoulder. Meanwhile, Jones' car collided with a nearby semi, then slid down the interstate on its roof and into Kalk's cruiser.
"I spoke with her this morning," said Sgt. Gerald Voight later on Monday. "She was conscious, keeping her sense of humor."
Jones also suffered minor injuries.
Officers say the accident should serve as a reminder to drivers, especially with emergency vehicles on the shoulder, and springtime construction zones in the area.
