Hundreds of people hopped on board Saturday for Union Pacific's Operation Lifesaver Excursion.

The event started at 9:30 Saturday morning with the first train chugging along from Altoona to Chippewa Falls.
>
In the afternoon another train went from Altoona to Elk Mound.
>
Denny Mattson who's the manager of the event says Eau Claire Police Officers rode with the engineers to get a better understanding of how the public obeys train crossing signs.
>
Each train ride lasted just under two hours.
