SBC Strike Settled

Nearly 100,000 striking workers at SBC Communications will be heading back to work Tuesday.

Negotiators have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract. One union spokesperson says their four-day strike against the SBC communications was a victory.

Workers in 13 states ended their walkout at midnight last night, including 160-some workers in Eau Claire.

Their dispute centered around health care and job security issues. The five-year deal, covers workers in all 13 states in SBC territory.

Union officials say the new pact provides access and opportunity for members as they move from traditional telecom work to the new technologies of the industry.
