After last week’s severe storms and tornadoes, the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau is giving a warning to be careful about hiring people for repairs.
>
The bureau has some tips:
>
Don't forget to research companies before you hire them.
>
Beware of price gouging, as some businesses may jack up the price by 500-percent.
>
Beware of companies who claim your home is structurally unsafe and needs expensive repairs.
>
Check with your insurance company, and make sure to take pictures and document any repair needs.
>
The Bureau says you should also compare bids and never pay more than one-third the cost of the repairs before work is complete.
