The Wisconsin Aquaculture Association plans to vote on a resolution Friday that calls for some sort of financial safety net should fish farmers suffer a loss because of the VHS virus.

The resolution calls for $600,000 a year from the State Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection for that purpose.

The virus is making its way across the Great Lakes. It's been detected in the Lake Winnebago system near Green Bay.
