An autopsy may confirm the identity of a man whose body was found floating in the Mississippi River at La Crosse last week.
Police are investigating whether the body is that of a 36-year-old man who was reported missing last December.
Authorities say there is no evidence related to the drowning of several college-age men over the past seven years who drowned in the river after drinking in downtown La Crosse.
The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting local authorities.
