This is not the fault of the fest organizers. Maybe some charges against the neighboring campers that put the exhaust hose by the tent would be a solution. I've slept in a tent at RockFest for the last 10 years next to campers and motor homes. I don't want to be shoved into some special location away from all the friends I camp there with just because I didn't want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a camper and vehicle to pull it there. Seems to me some consideration and common sense from the people camping next to this couple would have gone a long way to avoid this tragic situation.
I have been going to fest for MANY years and I also see this as a major problem and feel that people in charge of the country fest need to look at this as a problem that needs to be looked into and put changes into place before it happens again. I can't imagine losing a child and my heart goes out to the Grant family and also the people who owned the camper. I can't imagine the pain all of you feel. I know this will make me think twice about where I will put my tent next time I go camping. Its just too bad that a tragedy has to happen before people are aware of the dangers. This could have happened to anyone. This will most likely be our last year of country fest after 11 years. This year we experienced other things that it is so clear to see the cutbacks the fest is making at our expense. Nasty port-a-potties, lack of water pressure in the showers and poor cleanliness and now it seems like this isn't an issue they want to address. Does it have to be their child next to make changes. Remember, its people like the Grant family that makes the fest even possible. I strongly feel that the fest owes the family some respect of their lost love one. How hard would it be to give out a brochure with each ticket showing the dangers of camping. I think at about .02 cents a copy and the large increase in ticket prices, this shouldn't even be an issue. We are talking about peoples lives who support the fest. I think even a memorial at the fest wouldn't be too much to ask. I think Tara and her family paid enough for that. Prayer's go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Sincerely, Possibly a now non fest goer.
I had attended the Country Fest for 19 years and each year we always wondered why they didn't put the big motorhomes with generators in one spot together, as it was rather annoying when you were trying to sleep, but of course, nothing was ever done. You know, it doesn't seem to matter to the festival owners our concerns as long as they get their money. Now I think this should be looked into, but what are they doing, nothing, but making sure that they get Kenny Chesney for next year for a million dollars and raise the price of tickets, now which one is more important, the death, in my book. What do you all think? Take a survey, it could happen to anyone including you.
I was at Fest over the weekend when this tragedy happened and immediately after the first show after this tragedy, fest officials set up a donation box for the family. I believe the fest officials will do something given time. This interview was done two days after fest ended so just give them time and they will do something.
This is a tragic accident that could have easily been avoided. I agree with the family, adjust the campsites to have campers on one side/tents on the other. No one can bring Tara back, but if the Festival organizers can do one thing for the family it would be to adjust the camping area.
Very sad that Fest organizers haven't contacted the Grant's to at least share their condolences.
