A Constitutional Amendment limiting local government spending in Wisconsin has already become a hotly debated issue, month before the legislature reconvenes.
The proposal, known as "TABOR," for the "Taxpayer Bill of Rights" was the topic of a state wide forum Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Counties Association sponsored the statewide forum in 13 locations, including the CVTC campus in Eau Claire.
The group organized the forum so people could discuss the long-term impact of the proposal.
Many at the Wednesday night forum were against "TABOR," but one of its supporters says it is necessary to get local spending under control.
The teleconference speakers included Assemblyman Frank Lasee, a co-author of the bill. Also, a state representative from Colorado, where similar legislation is already in place.
