OREGON, Wis. (AP) -- Police say the body found near their search for clues in the disappearance of a college student is a homicide victim.
Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain says the body has not been positively identified.
About 100 law enforcement officers searched a three-square-mile area near the village of Oregon beginning at daybreak. DeSpain says they were looking for articles connected to Kelly Nolan's disappearance.
A body was found by searchers about quarter to nine this morning. Police haven't said whether it is that of a man or woman.
DeSpain says Nolan family members were at the scene of the search this morning, but have since left.
Police won't say why the deceased person is an apparent homicide victim.
DeSpain says there are no suspects in custody.
The 22 year old U-W Whitewater student disappeared June 23rd after becoming separated from her friends. They had been partying on State Street in downtown Madison.
