Democratic Ticket: Day Three

While local Democrats are celebrating the fact that John Edwards is now on their ticket, they're also proud to say 3,500 volunteers will be working alongside them in this year's campaign.

The third day of the new Democratic ticket brought John Kerry and John Edwards to Florida, where votes were recounted and battles waged in the courtroom in 2000.

The sentiment there is mirrored in many parts of Wisconsin, including the Chippewa Valley, where Democrats gathered to cheer on Kerry and Edwards.

"Between the two of them, they have a lot to bring to this country," said party activist Jerry La Point.

"The evidence is clear, we need a change," said State Representative Larry Balow.

Meanwhile, President Bush plans to visit Eastern Wisconsin next Tuesday and Wednesday. He'll stop in Waukesha County, Fond du Lac, and the Green Bay area. While he won't be coming to Western Wisconsin this time around, Political Analyst John Frank believes we'll see one or both candidates back in our area during the next three and a half months.
