Severe Weather Safety Tips
The National Weather Service says three tornados briefly touched down Sunday in northern Wisconsin. The storm also caused numerous funnel clouds. No injuries and only minor damage to trees was reported. The weather service received two reports of two separate tornados near Tomahawk in Lincoln County and one tornado near Harshaw in Oneida County. Meteorologist Roy Eckberg says they were brief. The storms were caused by the interaction of an upper level disturbance and daytime heat. They were the strongest from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. when it was the warmest. Heavy rain was seen in isolated areas in Waupaca, Portage and eastern Marathon Counties.
