WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (AP) -- About 2,000 conservatives are expected to attend a state convention bringing together organizers of tea party rallies across Wisconsin.
The meeting on Saturday at a Wisconsin Dells resort was organized by conservative group Americans for Prosperity and attracted campaign representatives for many Republicans, including Scott Walker for governor and Dave Westlake for Senate.
Americans for Prosperity director Mark Block calls the meeting an unofficial Wisconsin tea party convention.
Block and other organizers of local tea party groups say they have no interest in starting a third political party. However, a coalition of tea party groups has adopted a platform and legislative agenda.
