Twenty-year-old Jacob Richey of Shell Lake was officially charged with theft of the Chippewa Falls Fire Department's brush buggy. Richey allegedly stole the 1967 vehicle last month because he "needed a ride."
Police arrested Richey while driving the slow-moving buggy down Highway 53 shortly after it was reported missing.
Richey will have a pretrial hearing Aug. 23.
