Charges have been dropped against a migrant worker living in Elk Mound who was charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide.
Dunn county district attorney Jim Peterson says they were unable to locate the witnesses or the alleged victim.
Peterson believes they may have left the area and possibly returned to Mexico.
On Aug. 1 21-year-old Jorge Carrillo-Zuniga was accused of stabbing 38-year-old Joel Reyers-Mendez several times with a barbecue Fork following an argument between the two.
Peterson says homeland security officials have 48 hours to pick up Zuniga, otherwise he will be released.
Peterson does not believe Zuniga is a threat to the public.
