A report in U.S. News and World Magazine ranks UW-Eau Claire in a tie for third among public regional universities in the Midwest. It's the tenth straight time the university has made the list.
The Blugolds share this year's number three ranking with UW-La Crosse. UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Donald Mash is proud of the accomplishment, especially during a turbulent two-year period in school funding.
"Our budget was reduced by five million dollars and we had to reduce our position count by 32 positions," he said. "We've had to make those kind of reductions. Those are pretty significant reductions."
The magazine also recognized UW-Eau Claire number 20 among regional universities in the Midwest in the category of Best Masters Programs.
