A visually impaired Illinois man is running across the country to raise money for cystic fibrosis

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) A visually impaired Illinois man is running across the country to raise money for cystic fibrosis.

Davis Kuhn says, "Milwaukee, down through Chicago then through Indiana, Michigan, Ohio Pennsylvania, New York."

Meet David Kuhn. He's running for a cause. With the assistance of a sighted runner for the last 80 days he is running the parameter of the Continental United States to raise money for cystic fibrosis. When finished, he will have traveled more than 11,000 miles.

Kuhn says, "As I've progressed around the country so far I've met so many people with this disease or those that have family members with it. And each story just keeps adding more and more fuel to keeping me going through all of this."

Kuhn has a personal connection to the disease. His 12-year-old grand daughter has cystic fibrosis. Kuhn runs 20 miles a day but he isn't doing this all on his own. Several local businesses have made donations. Scheels gave him some new running shoes. Jim Page, a pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, says the members at his church have really stepped up to raise money and help Kuhn on his journey.

Jim Page says, "Here's what we need, can you do it? And people said yes. Count me in. So to see people come together, especially on such short notice was rather inspiring to see."

Page says Kuhn's story and his dedication can serve is an inspiration to us all.

Page says, "David's always saying it's not about me, my journey, my condition, my blindness. It's about what we can do together for people that are in need. Especially those who have cystic fibrosis."

Kuhn offers some advice to those who may want to begin their own journey for a cause.

"If it's in your heart to do it. If you're like myself this is strictly fear generated. Do something with that energy. Turn it into something positive," he says.

Next, Kuhn is headed down to Tomah for a couple of days.

Donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation can be made through Kuhn's website.
