NEW INFORMATION: Name released of driver killed in crash

ETTRICK, Wis. (WEAU) --The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the man killed in a crash near Ettrick.

Sheriff Richard Anderson says 71 year-old John Radke from Whitehall was killed on scene, and 41 year-old Jeffrey Radke was pulled from the car and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

It happened just before noon on Highway 53 near Ettrick. The sheriff says reports show it appears the car was heading north on 53 when it crossed the center line, hitting the trailer of the semi in the opposite lane.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

ETTRICK, Wis. (WEAU) -- One person is dead after a crash involving a semi and a vehicle.

Trempealeau County Sheriff Richard Anderson said it happened just before noon Thursday on Highway 53 near Ettrick.

He says reports show it appears the vehicle heading north on 53 crossed into the southbound lane, and struck the rear trailer of the semi.

“It appears and from what I’ve been told the driver is deceased of the northbound vehicle and the passenger has been taken to the hospital,” said Anderson.

The semi driver wasn’t hurt.

No names have been released, and the crash is under investigation.

UPDATE: The Wisconsin State Patrol says the scene of the crash has been cleared, and all lanes of traffic are now open.

It happened on Highway 53 near Ettrick around noon.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says a car hit a semi driving in the opposite direction. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Several agencies responded to the crash. Traffic was blocked off for several hours.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. We'll have more information in our evening newscasts.

ETTRICK, Wis. (WEAU)--The Wisconsin State Patrol says all lanes of traffic are blocked in both directions on Highway 53 near Ettrick after a crash.

Traffic is being rerouted for southbound traffic to US 53 to County CC, to County D, and back to US 53. Northbound reverses directions.
