(WEAU) - A local school district is looking at a new approach for teaching some of its students.
The Altoona School District is considering Project Based Learning for the 4th and 5th grades. The district says on its website that project-based learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges.
Monday night, parents got to learn more about the approach and voice any concerns.
The superintendent explained what she sees as some of the advantages of the system. Connie Biedron told us “It's an opportunity for our students to give them ownership of their learning and have learning be more active and involved for them.”
They also talked about the district's schedule and its facilities.
