(WEAU) -- "Everyone was really excited when they found out that it was him, that they had gotten him," said Jackie Greenhow, co-owner of Butch and Jackie's Bateman Tavern.
It is not too often a big break in a case happens in your own backyard, literally steps away from your home and business.
"He heard noises in the backyard and turned around and at that time my brother walked in the door, and asked why all the cars were out in our back parking lot," she added.
It was about 3:30 p.m. on Friday when police showed up at the parking lot of Butch and Jackie's business, along County Highway X in Chippewa County.
Police were within eyesight of 32-year-old Shane Gregory, the man they have been looking for all week.
"Then I heard sirens, so I came running around the front door to see what was going on, and there were police cars going everywhere," said Butch Greenhow.
Police say Gregory fled on foot across the street and into a wooded area behind the Hoffman Court Mobile Home Park. Police caught up with him without incident and he was taken into custody.
On Monday, police found Gregory sleeping in a vehicle. When police tried to wake him, he tried to run over the officer. The deputy fired three shots and the chase began.
The sheriff says Gregory crashed near the Eau Claire County line, broke into a home in Fall Creek, demanding the keys to another car.
A DNR warden followed Gregory into Altoona where schools were put on lockdown. He got away on foot, and was missing until police caught up with him on Friday.
"At 6:00 they said Bateman Tavern on TV so everyone in the bar started cheering," added Jackie Greenhow.
