(WEAU) -- While New Year's Eve is about saying goodbye to the year that was, some people out visiting bars tonight are looking forward to more than just the New Year.

"Adrenaline is pumping," said Joe David, who was out at The Livery in Eau Claire.

The sound of being surrounded by cheering fans, with everyone rooting for the same team is exciting for him.

"There's nothing that can explain it," he said.

It is the feeling of watching football from the bar, rather than on the big screen at home. Joe David knows the bar is the place to be.

"Pretty much I have a group of 6 to 15 friends, depending on who wants to come out but probably all of them will be out tomorrow and on Saturday," he said.

Jess Shafer will be in the middle of it all. Keeping fans fueled to cheer on their team.

"We're having an extra bartender come in early, so instead of having just two on we will have 3 on because it will be a pretty crazy game," she added.

Shafer says the advantage to going out to enjoy the game: no prep, no mess, and no problem.

"It's a big game and people like to socialize and go out and have a few drinks and food if they don't want to cook food for themselves," she added.

But beyond the drinks, food, and entertainment, Joe David says there is also something special about watching Wisconsin teams.

"Especially when you get Badger fans and Packers fans together, it's more exciting," he added.
