EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- It's times of tragedy that unites a community together. In this case, a whole host of communities.
On Thursday night, people from all over Western Wisconsin and beyond united under one roof to support the Barnes family.
Just three weeks ago in early November, on a snowy morning, the family lost their 9-year-old son Zayvier in a crash.
Zayvier and his father Graham Barnes, along with his 7-year-old sister Eylsa and 2-year-old brother Qwynn were heading south on Hwy 93.
That's when deputies say another driver lost control and crashed into them.
Zayvier died at the hospital.
Graham, his daughter Eylsa and son Qwynn were hurt from injuries.
100 percent of proceeds from the concert will go to the Barnes family.
Among those performing at the benefit concert are friends of Graham, Jim Pullman, Todd Barneson and other musicians.
Pullman says Graham is also a musician in the community and was supposed to perform at the Fire House Thursday night with his brother Noah. But with the recent turn of events, Pullman and Barneson volunteered to take over the evening and make it a donation based concert for the family.
"When you're from a small community like Eleva-Strum, everybody pulls together and helps out and you know it's all for them," says Pullman who went to school with the Barnes children's parents.
Others who were at the benefit concert are Graham's colleagues at Holiday Vacations.
"He's a dear friend of all of us and it's really important for the community to support them and they're going to need us now and down the road as well," says Denise Pedersen.
Since the tragic loss, many have united to help the family cope with the loss.
One woman who is a friend of Zayvier's mother says she held a benefit and was able to donate $2,400 to the family.
Jill O'Mara-Robinson says she held a Scentsy benefit, selling flameless candles. She sold more than $8000 worth of sales with a commission check of around $2,500. O'Mara-Robinson donated $2478 to the family.
She says a fundraiser with a bake sale will be held on Saturday, December 8th at the fire hall in Eleva with all proceeds going to the Barnes family.
If you'd like to help the Barnes family, a benefit fund has been setup at the United Bank in Eleva. The bank can be reached at (715) 287-4412.
