LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Blood donors were rolling up their sleeves to help save lives on Tuesday.
BloodCenter of Wisconsin is holding a blood drive at the La Crosse Center’s South Hall B.
It’s for a summer blood donation effort called You to the Rescue.
BloodCenter of Wisconsin said it thinks donations are down during the summer, because people are busy and spending more time outside.
It thinks the need is up, because of more accidents and activity.
We talked to one man who said he wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for a blood donation after he was in a head on collision in 2005.
“I’m so grateful for the blood I received. That’s one reason why I donate. People should just try it,” said Steve Brown of La Crosse.
The blood drive runs Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Donating takes about an hour.
Walk-ins are welcome.

Donors will receive an admission button to Riverfest.
