Lieutenant Patrick Hogan said the victim, 61-year-old Lynn Frank Johannes was fishing in the Bluff Slough area, a back water area off the Mississippi River.

Melody Arquillo said her husband was on the water during the search, and said it’s sad to see someone lose their life in the river.

“I know bodies are found in rivers and stuff like that, but it’s usually more main channel, so when it actually happened right behind our house in our slough, it was kind of frightening to find out,” said Arquillo.

Police said no foul play is suspected and an autopsy is set to be done on Tuesday.
