Previous Story:

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - The Eau Claire Fire Department says crews have pulled a body from the Chippewa River Monday evening.

Our photographer on the scene saw crews searching the river in the area of the UW-Eau Claire campus. A battalion chief with the fire department says the body was found just downstream from the Short Street Bridge in Eau Claire, but all other details of the case will be handled by the University Police Department.

So far, the body has not been identified.

In April, UW-Eau Claire student 20-year-old David Patrick Rodgers of Northfield, Minnesota went missing in the Chippewa River. Police said at the time Rodgers disappeared from his dorm room and matched the description of the person witnesses say fell into the river from the campus footbridge. The search for Rodgers ended without crews being able to find him.

The battalion chief we spoke with says he is not aware of any other people currently missing on the Chippewa River.

We'll have more on this story as it becomes available here on WEAU.com.
