EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Chippewa River is again expected to rise during the next few days, but it should crest more than five feet below flood stage.

The City of Eau Claire posted an update to its Facebook page Monday morning. It says the gauge at Grand Avenue read 765.3 feet Monday, which is nearly eight feet below flood stage. It says the National Weather Service predicts a crest of 767.7 feet on Thursday. Flood stage is 773 feet.

The city says the actual readings could vary, depending on upcoming temperatures, how the snow melts, and whether we receive rain or snow in the days ahead.
