EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- It has been a work in progress, six months in the making. But on Friday, those who finished the Chippewa Valley Challenge were recognized at Country Jam.
All together the organizer said of the 70 people who weighed in from start to finish, they lost a combined total of 5,300 pounds.
The winner, Donna Basacker, lost 34% of her body weight. The organizer says the Chippewa Valley Challenge is unique in how many people take part.
"This is the largest non-online weight loss competition there is right now," said Dan Ekblad, the organizer of the event. "We're pretty proud that we had 535 people this year, next year we're shooting for 1,000, so we're gonna be the largest around."
Plans are already in the works for next year's challenge. It starts on January 6th.
