EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Some teachers at Delong Middle School got a very new look on Thursday and it was all in an effort to help others.
Eight staff members had their hair cut for locks of live in front of the entire school.
Volunteer stylists from Pro Cuts took time out of their day to give the haircuts, which included the 3-year-old daughter of one of the staff members.
The hair will be made into hairpieces to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Teacher Laura Lokken says she takes part in Lock of Love every couple of years because as a teenager, she lost her hair while battling cancer.
She says it's also a way to set an example for the students watching.
"I think it's a good idea to just show that you can do things, that it doesn't necessarily cost time. There are a lot of ways you can make a positive impact on some people. Just make people smile, make a difference in their day,"
Two other teachers got their hair cut on Valentine's day - the original scheduled date for Locks of Love. That date had to be rescheduled after the school got a snow day.
