Donation drive to help family after their home explodes

WEAU (Altoona) - A family is getting some community support after their home exploded Sunday in Eau Claire County.

The Pederson family's daycare is becoming a drop off point for donations of gift cards, kids' clothing and even toys.

RCU and The Citizens State Bank are also accepting monetary donations or other items. You can drop off, mail or call in donations at any RCU branch. The Citizens State Bank is located at 1028 North Hillcrest Parkway in Altoona.

The family was vacationing when their home exploded east of Eau Claire around noon on Sunday. Their home is leveled. No one was hurt but neighboring homes were damaged as well. There's no word yet on what caused the blast.

The daycare says the family lost nearly everything and has a daughter in first grade and twin boys who are 5.

Little Star Daycare is taking donations of the following:

Girls clothes in size 7-8 and shoe size 1-2
Boys clothing in size 5T and shoe sizes 12 and 11

The boys like things such as trucks, trains, cars, etc., and the daughter likes crafty things, American Girl dolls, books, puzzles, etc. Gift cards of any kind would be appreciated for food, appliances, and clothing for the parents.

If you have any questions on how to help, please contact Little Star daycare at 715-832-1513 or Citizens State Bank at 715-832-2265.

Little Star is located inside the Bethlehem Lutheran Church 2245 Hayden Ave. Altoona, WI 54720

An elementary is also collecting donations but WEAU has yet to confirm that drop off point independently. We will add the information as it becomes available.
