Dozens of people braved the cold Wednesday night to see what Barstow Street could look like, with a makeover.
Wednesday night the city and Ayres Associates showed off conceptual drawings showing what Barstow Street and Eau Claire Street could look like in the next few years. The project manager says the meeting was to get input from people on what they would like to see, and what they don't want.
The city says the last major construction on Barstow was completed back in 1971, and engineers says the work has to be done.
Disa Wahlstrand of Ayres Associates said "The pavement rating is actually very low. There's some poor conditions on the streets out there, so it's necessary to do the reconstruction. And at that time, let's take advantage of some opportunities to see what else we can do besides just reconstructing the surface.
Wahlstrand says improvements could also be done along the east bank of the Chippewa River. She says construction could start sometime in 2011.
